Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Teacher of Visually Impaired (TVI) to join our Assessment and IEP Evaluation Team in Philadelphia, PA. Key Responsibilities:


Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Conduct thorough evaluations to determine the educational needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Assess students' functional vision in relation to their academic and social-emotional development.
  • Utilize various assessment tools to gather data and identify necessary accommodations and interventions.

Collaboration and Consultation:

  • Work closely with parents, school psychologists, and other professionals to ensure a holistic evaluation approach.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss findings and develop intervention strategies.

IEP Development:

  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Ensure IEPs include appropriate accommodations, modifications, and services tailored to each student's unique needs.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments and evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education services and documentation.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and documentation on time.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certificate for Visually Impaired PK-12.
  • Experience in conducting educational assessments and evaluations.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in using technology for assessments, documentation, and instructional purposes.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move about the school environment.
  • Capability to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed.
