Special Education Teachers (SPED) Needed in Drexel Hill, PA
Job Description
INVO is currently seeking Special Education teachers for local schools in Drexel Hill PA. Position Overview:
The Special Education (SPED) Teacher will provide instructional services to students with special needs in various educational settings, ensuring that all students meet their academic and social-emotional goals. The teacher will collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with district and state guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Support:
- Develop and deliver effective, differentiated instruction tailored to meet the individual needs of students with disabilities.
- Design and implement lesson plans that accommodate students' learning needs across multiple grade levels and subjects, in alignment with IEP goals.
- Individualized Education Plans (IEPs):
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and review IEPs in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Monitor and document students' progress towards IEP goals, and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and aligned on the student's progress and needs.
- Classroom Management:
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes both academic learning and social-emotional development.
- Implement behavior management strategies to address individual student needs, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with general education teachers to provide co-teaching and/or consultative services for students in inclusion settings.
- Regularly communicate with parents/guardians about their child's progress, challenges, and successes.
- Collaborate with school staff, including paraprofessionals, therapists, counselors, and administrators to support student learning.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, assessments, and other required documentation as per district, state, and federal regulations.
- Stay up-to-date with special education laws and regulations, including IDEA and ADA compliance.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Engage in reflective practice to continuously improve instructional strategies and classroom management techniques.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred).
- Valid Pennsylvania Special Education Teaching Certification.
- Experience working with students with a range of disabilities, including learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, autism, and others.
- Knowledge of current special education laws, IEP development, and effective instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse caseload of students with varying needs.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in inclusive education settings.
- Familiarity with assistive technology and other educational tools used to support students with disabilities.
- Crisis intervention and behavior management techniques (CPI certification preferred).
