Part Time Physical Therapist Needed for Specialty School Program in Scotch Plains, NJ
Job Description
INVO is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Physical Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in Scotch Plain, NJ. The Physical Therapist will be responsible for providing therapeutic services to students with physical disabilities, developmental delays, and other special needs. The goal of this role is to enhance each student’s functional abilities, improve mobility, and promote overall independence, contributing to their academic success and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate students’ physical therapy needs through comprehensive screening and standardized assessments.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluations and collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to address the physical challenges of students.
- Provide direct physical therapy services in both individual and group settings to students with varying levels of physical disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of student progress, treatment plans, and evaluations in compliance with school and state regulations.
- Modify and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on progress and feedback from students, teachers, and other school professionals.
- Collaborate with other members of the school’s interdisciplinary team (teachers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, etc.) to ensure coordinated care for students.
- Provide training and guidance to teachers and school staff on physical activity adaptations and accommodations for students with special needs.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to provide input on students’ progress and necessary physical therapy goals and accommodations.
- Maintain compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies regarding the provision of therapy services within a school environment.
- Provide consultative services to parents and caregivers to help support therapeutic goals at home.
- Stay up-to-date with current best practices, therapies, and interventions in pediatric physical therapy.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Physical Therapist in the state of New Jersey.
- NJ Dept of Education Certification
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with children or in a school setting, preferably with children who have physical disabilities or special needs.
- Knowledge of pediatric physical therapy interventions, motor development, and adaptive equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, families, and staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
- Experience working with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and understanding of special education laws is a plus.
Work Schedule:
- Part-time, flexible hours based on the needs of the school (20 hours per week).
