Job Description

INVO is seeking a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Social Worker for a Charter School in Philadelphia, PA. This is a part time opportunity for the duration of the 2024-2025 School Year

 

Requirements:

  1. Student Support:
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing issues such as emotional regulation, social skills, family dynamics, trauma, and academic pressures.
  • Assess students' mental health and social-emotional needs through observations, screenings, and evidence-based assessments.
  • Develop and implement intervention plans tailored to students’ specific challenges.
  1. Collaboration with School Staff:
  • Work closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to identify and address students' social-emotional and behavioral needs.
  • Participate in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans, as appropriate, ensuring alignment with students’ mental health needs.
  • Offer professional development sessions to staff on topics such as trauma-informed practices, de-escalation strategies, and student mental health.
  1. Family and Community Engagement:
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and families, providing guidance on accessing resources, navigating school processes, and supporting student success at home.
  • Conduct family meetings to discuss student progress, challenges, and strategies for support.
  • Partner with community agencies to connect families to mental health services, housing assistance, or other needed resources.
  1. Crisis Intervention:
  • Respond to crises such as bullying, student safety concerns, and mental health emergencies with professionalism and sensitivity.
  • Provide immediate support, conduct risk assessments, and coordinate follow-up services when necessary.
  1. Data Collection and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and progress.
  • Use data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and inform decision-making.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives aimed at improving school climate and reducing behavioral issues.
  1. Program Development:
  • Develop and implement school-wide programs promoting social-emotional learning (SEL), mental health awareness, and conflict resolution.
  • Facilitate workshops or assemblies for students and families on relevant social and emotional topics.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or Counseling required; LSW or LCSW or LPC preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and adolescents in a school, clinical, or community-based setting.
  • Familiarity with urban education environments and the unique challenges faced by students and families in Philadelphia.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, SEL frameworks, and restorative practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
