Job Description

INVO is seeking a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to assess, diagnose, and treat communication disorders in students. The SLP will collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support students’ speech, language, and social communication needs, ensuring they can effectively participate in their educational environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Diagnosis:
    • Conduct evaluations of students with speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication disorders.
    • Interpret assessment results and develop individualized education programs (IEPs) based on findings.
    • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations.
  • Intervention & Therapy:
    • Provide direct and consultative speech and language therapy to students with identified needs.
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address speech and language deficits.
    • Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
  • Collaboration & Consultation:
    • Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and parents to support students’ communication development.
    • Provide training and support to educators and families on speech and language strategies.
    • Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team discussions, and professional development.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Ensure all therapy services align with district policies, state guidelines, and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
    • Maintain timely and accurate records, progress reports, and documentation required for compliance.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders.
  • Licensure & Certification:
    • Massachusetts licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
    • State Department of Education certification (DESE) as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
  • Experience: Prior experience working in a school or pediatric setting preferred.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong understanding of speech and language development.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to work with diverse student populations and adapt therapy techniques accordingly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices.
  • Familiarity with Boston Public Schools policies and special education services.
