Bilingual Social Worker, School-Based
Job Description

Invo Healthcare, the nation's leader in school-based mental health and special education services, is looking for a Bilingual School Social Worker to join our team in the Greensboro, NC area within the Guilford County Schools System.
Qualifications:
- Hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work from an accredited university- must be licensed (LSW, LMSW, etc.)
- Hold appropriate state licensure/professional licensure for Social Workers in state of application
- Bilingual: Spanish/English
- Have experience working in schools is preferred
- Experience in a school setting or working with pediatric populations preferred.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in using technology for assessments and documentation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and move about the school environment.
- Capability to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed.
Guilford Information:
Purpose
To support the Guilford County Schools kindergarten through 12th grade English learner students in the following areas.
Objectives
- Provide new arrival families with a culturally sensitive lens and unbiased approach in native language
- Provide families with school connections and support to maneuver the school system
- Coordinate, collaborate, and advocate with stakeholders to ensure that students and families have access to services and eliminate barriers to resources
- Teach families process and procedures to maneuver the systems on their own
Background Information
Guilford County Schools' immigrant and refugee population has grown in the past several years in part because we have three large resettling agencies based in Greensboro and High Point.
Vision
Due to the many diverse needs our families have and the obstacles they encounter upon arrival, the bilingual social worker will be tasked with the following:
New Arrival Intake Process
- Collaborate with the resettling agencies to identify families with school age children
- Assist parents with children in grades K-2 with school registration, transportation, and EC referrals
- Collaborate with Newcomers staff to register students in grades 3-12
- Assist with identifying their needs
Connecting to Community Resources
- Schedule appointments, coordinate with families and stakeholders, and follow-up with community agencies
- Collaborate with school based social workers and EL teachers
- Connect families to community organizations
- Assist with medical referrals
- Coordinate mental health referrals for student and families through UNCG Psychological Department
- Call homes
- Conduct home visits
- Maintain detailed documentation and logs of service
