We are seeking an experienced Teacher of Visually Impaired to join our Assessment and IEP Evaluation Team in Philadelphia, PA. Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Conduct thorough evaluations to determine the educational needs of students with visual impairments.
- Assess students' functional vision in relation to their academic and social-emotional development.
- Utilize various assessment tools to gather data and identify necessary accommodations and interventions.
Collaboration and Consultation:
- Work closely with parents, school psychologists, and other professionals to ensure a holistic evaluation approach.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss findings and develop intervention strategies.
IEP Development:
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to develop individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Ensure IEPs include appropriate accommodations, modifications, and services tailored to each student's unique needs.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments and evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding special education services and documentation.
- Prepare and submit required reports and documentation on time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania certificate for Visually Impaired PK-12.
- Experience in conducting educational assessments and evaluations.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws and best practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in using technology for assessments, documentation, and instructional purposes.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move about the school environment.
- Capability to lift and carry materials and equipment as needed.
